Question Time Brent
What’s happening in the world in and around K2K?
The Stolen Summers film season presents esteemed UK director Joanna Hogg’s debut feature Unrelated at The Lexi Cinema on Sun 2 September (4pm). The film stars a young Tom Hiddleston in his first film role, and won the FIPRESCI prize at the 2007 London Film Festival. If you’ve seen her remarkable Archipelago and Exhibition, this is a chance to go back and watch Hogg’s early work before she returns with her upcoming film. Depicting an in-depth look at familial relations of a British middle-class family on holiday in Italy while introducing a complex older female character (Anna), who joins the holiday as an outsider, there are a variety of troublesome developments to enjoy!
July & August 2018
Nomad’s pop-up film season is in Queens Park, they’ve got diverse 5 films, with the first two screening at the end of July (Blade Runner and Early Man). End August/early September they have The Goonies and The Shape of Water, and a gala event screening of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. they’re hoping to line up a drag artist for the pre-show to that, and there’s a pair of round trip flights to Oz to be won!

Fundraise for Month of Mayhew
London-based animal welfare charity, Mayhew, is holding a month of fundraising fun in May to continue their vital, life-saving work to help abandoned, neglected and vulnerable cats and dogs, as well as owners in need, both in the UK and overseas.
During Month of Mayhew, you can be as creative as you like in how you fundraise for the animal welfare charity; from holding a cake sale and adding a dog or cat-themed twist, to running a marathon to hosting a dinner party dressed all in purple (Mayhew’s colour, of course!).
Mayhew’s CEO, Caroline Yates, said: “The work we do just wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our supporters who choose to help us in whichever way they can. We can’t wait to see the different ways our supporters will be fundraising for us this month!
“All the money raised from Month of Mayhew will go towards us helping more dogs and cats escape a life of cruelty, neglect and abandonment in the UK and overseas.”

East African grooves, dance music.
East- African retro-pop explosion from the acclaimed Sudanese-born singer Alsarah.
Described by The Guardian as ‘the new star of Nubian pop’, Alsarah will launch her new album in an exclusive London show which is guaranteed to make you dance all night long! Alsarah & The Nubatones came together out of a collective love for Nubian music and a genuine belief that Soul transcends all cultural and linguistic barriers. Inspired by the pentatonic scale they blend a selection of Nubian ‘songs of return’ from the 1970s-today with original material and traditional music of central Sudan. Their set is a musical journey through diaspora and migration from an urban lense. Tickets https://www.richmix.org.uk/node/3409/spektrix/seats/65203
